Music is an important part of life. It is also an important part of religion and devotion.

In this project, you will research the traditional music that is part of one of the world’s five biggest religions. Below are some kinds of music used in these religions

Hinduism - Kritis

Buddhism - Mahayana chant

Judaism - Cantorial music

Christianity - Gospel

Islam - Qawwali

Other religious music topics may be chosen if approved by Mr. Green. You will need to do research on the internet to complete this project.

The final project will be a website about the music of one of the above religions.

In this project, you must promote an upcoming concert by a Baroque, Classical, or Romantic era artist. You need to study the piece of music that will be performed at the concert, and you will need to learn about the aesthetics of the time period in order to promote the ideas in the music. You will use GarageBand or SoundTrap to create a radio commercial promoting the upcoming performance

Consider the following questions as you complete this assignment:

• What are this composer’s stylistic traits? What things does the composer do consistently throughout the music? Are there any special traits they show that other composers from the time period don’t?

• What emotions does the composer evoke in this music? What techniques do they use to express these emotions?

• What guidelines or principles did composers during that time period try to follow? What techniques does your composer do to follow those guidelines? How well does the composer follow the principles or guidelines of the time period?
